Every personalised chopping board we make begins as a piece of carefully selected timber and ends as something you will keep for decades. We work from our workshop in the Surrey Hills, where each board is cut, sanded and finished entirely by hand. There are no shortcuts in what we do, and it shows the moment you pick one up — in the weight of the oak, the smoothness of the finish, the precision of the engraving.

We use only furniture-grade hardwoods: English Oak sourced from our local West Sussex sawmill, and American Black Walnut from the Northern Appalachian region of New England, sourced from sustainably managed sawmills. Both timbers are beautiful, dense and extraordinarily hard-wearing. These are boards used and owned by professional chefs — and they perform accordingly.

Personalised Exactly as You Want It

Every board we make is built around your choices. You select the size — from a compact everyday board right up to something vast enough to anchor a large kitchen island. You choose the timber. And then you choose how it’s personalised.

Engraved lettering along the edge is the most popular option — a family name, a set of initials, a significant date, or a short phrase. We can also carve symbols, motifs and zodiac signs into the surface. For something more private, a longer message can be engraved on the underside of the board: a wedding reading, a favourite recipe, a quote from someone you love, or simply something you’d rather only the right person finds.

Additional options include carved side handles, a surface juice groove, and a lipped edge — a professional touch that lets you sweep ingredients directly from the board into the pan.

The Finish Makes the Difference

What sets our personalised chopping boards apart from anything you will find elsewhere is the finish. Every board receives multiple coats of our 100% natural, vegan-rated, food-safe chopping board oil — pure plant-based oils with no solvents, no hardeners, nothing harmful. The oil is worked into the timber by hand until it is fully absorbed, and the process is repeated until the surface has the depth and warmth that only properly finished timber achieves.

The engraving, when it is oiled for the first time, transforms. The lettering deepens. The grain responds. The whole board becomes something genuinely extraordinary — and that is the point at which most people understand what they have.
