Description
If you only ever buy one serious chopping board, this should be it.
End grain is the gold standard of cutting surfaces, and the reason is both practical and beautiful. When a knife blade comes down on an end grain board, it passes between the timber fibres rather than cutting across them — the fibres flex apart and close back together, which is dramatically kinder to your knives and extends the life of the board. It is why professional chefs and butchers have used this construction for generations.
Our end grain chopping boards are handmade in our Surrey Hills workshop using solid English oak and American Black Walnut, assembled piece by piece into the distinctive chequered pattern that reveals the full depth and richness of the timber’s end grain. Each board is then hand-sanded and finished with multiple coats of our food-safe oil. The result is a board that genuinely gets better with age.
Available in three sizes — small, medium and large — with a choice of oak or walnut, and options to add cutout side handles, a surface juice groove, or personalised engraving along the edge on one or both sides. A private message can also be added to the underside.
These boards work equally well as kitchen preparation boards and as trivets — the thickness and density of the timber make them excellent at absorbing heat from pans and roasting trays straight from the oven.
They make outstanding gifts for weddings, significant birthdays, housewarming presents, and anyone who would genuinely appreciate something built to last.
All engravings are in capitals as standard; lower case available on request. Allow 7–10 working days.
