Description

The chopping board that thinks like a chef.

Our engraved cutting boards with a lipped edge are designed for cooks who want their preparation board to work as hard as they do. The overhanging lip sits over the front edge of your worktop, allowing you to sweep chopped ingredients directly off the board — a detail borrowed from professional kitchens that makes a real difference in daily use.

Made from solid English oak or American Black Walnut and hand-finished in our Surrey Hills workshop, these boards are built to last. Available in a generous range of sizes, each board is made to order. The engraving — your choice of name, initials, a date, or a carved motif — is cut directly into the timber for a finish that will still be as crisp in twenty years as the day you received it.

A private message can be added to the underside of the board: a recipe, a favourite quote, or simply something between you and the person you’re giving it to.

These boards make thoughtful and lasting gifts for kitchens of all kinds — from weddings and housewarmings to significant birthdays and Christmas.

All engravings are in capitals as standard; lower case available on request at checkout. Allow 7–10 working days.

Care Information

Finish: All our boards leave the workshop treated with multiple coats of our 100% natural, vegan-rated, food-safe chopping board oil — no solvents, no hardeners, just pure plant-based oils that are completely safe for food contact.

Aftercare: Your board will reward a little attention. We recommend re-oiling regularly with our food-safe chopping board oil, which is available on the website. This keeps the timber nourished, helps prevent staining and discolouration, and guards against drying, cracking or warping over time. Think of it as feeding the wood — the more you do it, the better the board looks and performs.

Daily care: Always hand-wash with warm soapy water and dry immediately — never leave it sitting in water or put it in the dishwasher. Avoid leaving moist foods (such as cheese or citrus) on the surface for extended periods. Keep the board away from direct heat, direct sunlight, and damp surfaces. Do not store in a garage, shed or anywhere subject to temperature extremes.

About solid timber: Wood is a living material. It will expand and contract gently as the seasons change and humidity shifts — this is completely normal and entirely expected. You may notice very fine hairline cracks developing over time; these are a natural characteristic of solid timber and in no way affect the performance of your board. Regular oiling is the single best thing you can do to minimise movement.
