Description

This is what happens when craft becomes art.

Our multi-colour stripe chopping boards are made by hand, one piece at a time, from eight of the world’s most remarkable hardwoods. Each individual strip is hand-cut and assembled by eye in our Surrey Hills workshop — building up layers of pale American Maple, deep chocolate Walnut, vivid red Padauk, extraordinary purple Purpleheart, golden Oak, warm Cherry, dense Wenge, and American White Oak — until the board takes shape as something that could genuinely hang on a wall.

No two boards will ever be identical. The arrangement of colours, the width of each strip, the distribution of tones — all of it varies, because all of it is done by hand. When the assembly is complete, each board is hand-sanded repeatedly and finished with multiple coats of our water, heat and alcohol-resistant food-safe oil.

These boards are available in three sizes with options for cutout side handles, a surface juice groove, and personalised engraving on one or both sides. A private message can be added to the underside.

They make extraordinary gifts for weddings, fifth anniversaries (the traditional wood gift), significant birthdays, and anyone who wants something genuinely unlike anything they have ever owned.

A note on Padauk: this timber may release a little colour when first washed — simply wipe dry with a cloth.

All engravings are in capitals as standard; lower case available on request. Allow 10–15 working days.

    Beautiful striped design

Love the look of this board. The different wood colours really stand out and make it feel a bit more special than a standard chopping board.

    Looks amazing

Great quality and the striped design looks amazing on the worktop. Almost too nice to cut on.

Care Information

Finish: All our boards leave the workshop treated with multiple coats of our 100% natural, vegan-rated, food-safe chopping board oil — no solvents, no hardeners, just pure plant-based oils that are completely safe for food contact.

Aftercare: Your board will reward a little attention. We recommend re-oiling regularly with our food-safe chopping board oil, which is available on the website. This keeps the timber nourished, helps prevent staining and discolouration, and guards against drying, cracking or warping over time. Think of it as feeding the wood — the more you do it, the better the board looks and performs.

Daily care: Always hand-wash with warm soapy water and dry immediately — never leave it sitting in water or put it in the dishwasher. Avoid leaving moist foods (such as cheese or citrus) on the surface for extended periods. Keep the board away from direct heat, direct sunlight, and damp surfaces. Do not store in a garage, shed or anywhere subject to temperature extremes.

About solid timber: Wood is a living material. It will expand and contract gently as the seasons change and humidity shifts — this is completely normal and entirely expected. You may notice very fine hairline cracks developing over time; these are a natural characteristic of solid timber and in no way affect the performance of your board. Regular oiling is the single best thing you can do to minimise movement.
